Aurea Steel, which is part of Aurea Group, has roots all the way back from the 1960’s. The expertise brought by long experience of machining of large and demanding products is still a cornerstone of our performance.
We have extensive competence in machining various materials:
- we offer stainless steel machining services,
- machining of acid-proof steel, copper, aluminium,
- and wear-resistant grades of steel.
Machining services on an industrial scale
Our modern machine base, composed of sturdy units for demanding applications, enables us to machine pieces up to 120 tonnes.
Our boring and milling machines are CNC controlled and have dimensions up to 14,7 x 6,0 m. The machines have an automatic crosshead and an automatic crosshead changing station, and both machines are equipped with Heidenhain 530i control. The deep-hole boring devices of the boring machines can reach a hole depth of 3–5 m.
The CNC controlled horizontal lathes are equipped with rotating tools and grinding unit and is able to perform turning of products having a diameter of up to 8,2 meters.

Additional machining services we offer
Our repair machining service includes sleeving, build-up welding of shaft journals, metal spraying, and the manufacture of spare parts.
We are also well accustomed with tooling of different metallic materials.
Our typical customer comes from several different industrial customer segments, e.g. maritime, offshore and mining.
Custom-ordered machine park
At Aurea Steel, our mechanical workshop located in Kankanpää, we have a custom-made Burkhardt+Weber horizontal machining center. There are only two machines worldwide with similar features.
This fully automatic machining center is notably valuable for serial production and demanding parts which requires a high level of precision. The machine tool is equipped with an additional tool magazine for Wohlhaupter boring tools, exceeding diameter of one meter.
The machining center has a rotating table which typically allows the machining to be performed in one setup. Typical products manufactured with our machining tool are gear box cases, machine frames and an assortment of machine parts.
