We increase reliability performance and safety by updating the machine portfolio. For Kankaanpää Aurea Steel, a new acquisition is the PEMA submerged arc welding tower HD S 7×6, which has larger capacity and enables the welding of larger and heavier pieces. Our latest machine investment not only improves production efficiency and competitiveness, but it also strongly supports the human resources development of our engineering team and the appreciation of the industry.
Pemamek manufactures and supplies welding and production automation solutions for heavy duty welding metal industry. The new PEMA HD S 7×6 (vertical and horizontal movement) is a tailor-made submerged arc welding tower for Aurea Steel for welding large pieces. It is wider than the old Aurea Steel machine, but the installation can be made flexibly in the former place without any major modifications to the production premises. For example, in addition to installing new rails, no separate beds or new floors are required.
Before delivery to Kankaanpää, the tower is assembled and test welding is performed at Pemamek in Loimaa. The operation of the machine according to the requirements is ensured by factory testing, after which the machine is dismantled and installed in Aurea Steel’s premises. These measures minimise the machine run-up time and ensure a flexible start of production. PEMA products are already familiar to Aurea Steel, which speeds up the commissioning and adoption of the new machine without any production interruptions. With advanced technology, the new machine attracts and motivates both those who are already working in the industry and those who are just starting their careers. The objective of the machinery investment is also speed, precision, quality and large size of the pieces.
The intention of the Aurea Group is to do the right thing at once. The aim is to maximise the benefits of the new machine investment by entering into a 3-year maintenance contract with Pemamek for the welding tower, which is an exceptionally long and comprehensive package.
Behind the manufacturer is a large maintenance organization responsible for the machine’s rapid fault definition, repair and spare part service, user interface technical support and helpdesk operations. The tower is remotely connected to maintenance in Loimaa, which enables quick assistance and expertise in the use of the machine, as often the failure is caused by a human factor. Software management, support and machine data monitoring, as well as proactive annual maintenance once a year ensure continuity of production and security of supply. The maintenance contract involves the calibration and validation of the welding equipment. The overall process consists of an installation inspection, operational condition and performance inspection, as well as operational and performance maintenance.
Model HD 7×7 differs in dimensions from the PEMA HD 7×6 model of Aurea Steel.
